The document applies to factory made fibrous insulating materials in the form of mats and boards which are used for impact sound insulation in building construction (impact sound insulating materials). The fibrous insulating materials also serve to improve thermal insulation and, in conjunction with floating floor, also to improve airborne sound insulation. It also applies to fibrous insulating materials with facings. It does not apply to fibrous insulating materials which are used for thermal insulation purposes only.
