This standard applies to industrially manufactured fibrous insulating materials in the form of mats, felts and sheets which are used for impact sound insulation in building construction. The fibrous insulating materials also serve improve air-borne sound insulation and thermal insulation.*This standard also applies to fibrous insulating used in conjunction with facings. It does not apply to fibrous insulating materials used only for thermal insulation purposes.
