The document applies to industrially manufactured fibrous insulating materials in the form of mats, felts and panels which are used for thermal insulation and with suitable additional marking for sound reduction and sound absorption in building construction. It also applies to fibrous insulating materials used in conjunction with facings or supporting layers as well as to embossed products. This standard does not apply to fibrous insulating materials for impact sound insulation, sound absorption panels and wood fibreboards. This following edition of the represents the unchanged version of the previous edition of March 1987 except for the fact that the overall thickness of mineral fibrous sheets, which are marked by the manufacturer as thermal insulating materials for the application to ventilated facades, shall be water-repellent (hydrophobic). For this purpose the respective requirements and a test method have been inserted into this standard.
