EN 81-2:1998 requires special machine and pulley rooms. Modern technology shows that machines and associated parts can be located in the well, on the car or in cabinets. To ensure the safety of normal operation, maintenance and inspection provisions are necessary which are not yet described in this Standard. This draft amendment covers the necessary additional precautions by replacing the relevant existing text of EN 81-2:1998 or adding new clauses as indicated.
