Specification of the methods, apparatus and procedures of the determination. The Vicat softening temperature is defined as temperature in °C at which a standard indenter under a specified load penetrates 1 mm into the surface of a thermoplastic test specimen. Two methods are specified, using different indenter loads: Method A using a load of 10 N and method B using a load of 50 N.
