Deals with the methods for sampling and analysis of free gases and for sampling and analysis of gases dissolved in oil, from oil-filled equipment such as power and instrument transformers and oil filled cables. The methods described are suitable for all samples and take into account the problems imposed by the transport of samples. Alternative sampling methods are given in appendices A and B. Appendices C and D describe alternative methods applicable for the preparation of oil samples for the analysis of their dissolved gases and for the analysis itself.
