The standard contains terms and definitions in the field of radiotherapeutic technique. It includes the following chapters: Ionizing radiation, radiation beam, dose, phantoms, dose distribition, tissue ratios and scatter factors, radiotherapy equipment, supply service of radiotherapy equipment, and general terms of radiotherapy and radiotherapy treatment planning. The brachytherapy terms are excluded and in preparation for a following norm. Numerous terms are taken from other parts of DIN 6814 and are cited to obtain a synopsis for the practical requirements of radiotherapists and radiophysicists.
