The procedure according to this standard is used to determine by means of XRFS the chlorine and bromine content of homogeneous liquid petroleum products, synthetic oils and additives, if they are soluble in suitable organic solvents; it is also valid for homogeneous used oil samples with a chlorine content of 5 to <1000 mg/kg and a bromine content of 10 to <1000 mg/kg.
