The standard gives as survey of stainless steels used for manufacture of surgical implants, of product forms and of the properties in the conditions of delivery to the manufacturer of the implants.*The purpose of the standard is to ensure that implants, e.g. plates and screws, also from different manufacturers, can be used in combination without the risk of contact corrosion, provided that the specifications of this standard have been observed.
