This standard describes an oxydation method used for the microcoulometric determination of sulphur in the range from 0,5 to 1000 mg/kg mass fraction in gaseous and liquid petroleum hydrocarbons with a boiling end-point of up to 450 °C. In the test, the sample is burnt in a oxygen carrier gas mixture. The sulphur dioxide thus formed is converted in a titration cell into sulphurtrioxide. The electric current passing through the generator electrodes is a measure of the mass of sulphurdioxide in the flue gas. From this the sulphur content of the sample can be calculated as a mass fraction in mg/kg.
