The document applies to the planning, installation, extension, modification and operation of intruder and hold-up alarm systems and to those parts of alarm systems which notify intrusion and hold-up and is to be used in conjunction with DIN VDE 0833-1 (VDE 0833 Part 1). It contains specifications for intruder and hold-up alarm systems installed in buildings for the protection of life and property. The document does not include specifications for the interaction of intruder and hold-up alarm systems with non-security functions of other systems; however the normal interaction of all parts of an intruder and hold-up alarm system with other systems is to be secured - as far as this is required for the unrestricted functioning of the intruder and hold-up alarm system.
