Includes a procedure for surface waters and domestic and industrial waste waters. The procedure permits to determine as little as 0,05 g of mercury in the test portion under the optimum instrumental conditions. The procedure is not applicable if the concentration of organic matter is such that the quantity of potassium permanganate is unsufficient to produce a persistent intense violet coloration.
