Is intended for application to liquids for which, for practical purposes, the shear stress and shear rate may be considered proportional, i.e. the coefficient of viscosity is independent of the rate of shear. The first quantity is determined by measuring the time for a volume of liquid to flow under gravity through a calibrated glass capillary viscosimeter. The second quantity can be obtained by multiplying the measured quantity by the density of the liquid.
