A method for the determination of the - generally pincushion-like - distortion of X-rax image intensiviers is described. It is based on measurements of the imaging scale of test objects as a function of their position (differential distortion) or size (integral distortion). It is recommended to state the differential distortion; the integral distortion may also be stated as additional information. Both depend on the distance between the X-ray focal spot and the entrance plane.
