Establishing of a code system of designation for polypropylene (PP) and propylene copolymer thermoplastics. The designation systems is based on a standardized pattern of data blocks. It consists of a description block, an identity block comprising the International Standard number and an individual item block. Which is sudivided into four data blocks with coded information: No.1: Identifidation of the Polypropylene by its symbol (PP); No.2: Position 1: Intended application or method of processing; Position 2 to 4: Important properties, additives or indications; No.3: Designatory properties (coded property levels); No.4: Fillers or reinforcing materials and their content; Lists of codes used in the data blocks are given. Designatory properties of polypropylene are isotactic index and melt flow rate. Examples of coded designations are given.
