In this standard the Fraass method for determining the breaking point of bitumen is specified which is also applicable for preparations from special coal tar pitch. For determining of the Fraass breaking point a thin steel plaque is coated with the binder to be tested as specified in this standard. This sample is flexed under specified conditions at a descending series of temperatures.The temperature is determined at which the first crack appears in the coating of the binder.
