A heating plant or an installation for drinking water is as secure as its weakest part. One of these parts is the membrane in expansion tanks. Usually the material is an elastomer which corrodes and retires under working conditions. The membran has to meet several requirements to reach the security level of the other parts of the plant. Also attention has to be payed to aditives in the heating water. Certain chemical aditives reduce the life-time of the membrane evidently.
