The method consists in inoculation of Petri dishes with a specified test sample, further inoculation, under the same conditions, using decimal dilutions of the test sample. then aerobic incubation of the plates at 35 °C or 37 °C for 20 h, followed by calculation, from the number black colonies appearing on the plates, of the number of characteristic colonies and subjection of the colonies to confirmation procedures and calculation of the number of micro-organisms per millilitre or per gram of sample.
