The infrared spectrometrie method established by this standard is used for the determination of the benzene content of gasoline. After dilution with cyclohexane the infrared spectrum of the sample is measured in the wavelenght range between 730 and 630 cm-1. The benzene content is then determined by comparing the atomic absorption of the sample at 673 cm-1 in the base-line method with a reference curve. The benzene content is expressed as g/(100 ml).
