Gives underlying theory, basic principles, and basic requirements for the design, installation and operation of the sampling system for the purpose of determining the quality characteristics of the consignment (size distribution, moisture content, chemical composition, and physical properties). The methods are applicable to both the loading and discharging of a consignment by means of conveyors and other ore handling equipment to which a mechanical sampler may be installed.
