Specifies the requirements for reference beta radiations produced by radionuclide sources and proposes two series of such radiations from which the radiation necessary for determining the appropriate characteristics of an instrument shall be selected (series 1: used with beam flattening filters designed to give uniform dose rates over a large area at a specified distance, series 2: used without beam flattening filters allowing a range of source-to-calibration plane distances to be used).
