Belongs to a series of standards based on IEC Publication 601-1 and, thus, gives general requirements for all aspects of safety. Specification of requirements for the safety of vaporizing and nebulizing humidifiers, including those suitable for inclusion in breathing systems for use with both intubated and non-intubated patients. Requirements for delivery tubes and accessory devices intended to control humidifiers or delivery tube heaters are also included. Room humidifiers are outside the scope of this standard.
