For general purposes, the severity value of 70 kPa for low air pressure for all classes of table 1 is considered to be too low, as the number of locations in the upper range of altitudes up to 3000 m is limited. Furthermore, it may lead to uneconomic overdesign of products never subjected to such air pressure. A suitable value (listed in IEC 721-1, table 1, item 1.3.1) is introduced into a new table 1A, corresponding to the altitude of approximatery 1400 m.
