The terms "mental stress" and "mental strain" and a few associated terms are defined in order to promote comprehension between experts and practioners, as well as establishing uniform usage of language. The standard should be used, for example, in work systems and general communication.*Any activity, including the purely physical, can induce mental stress. "Mental stress" is a term employed to describe any external influence impinging upon a human being and acting upon him psychologically. "Mental stress" induces processes of increasing or decreasing mental strain in human beings.
