The object is to define the conditions and methods of measurement to be applied. Measurements are concerned with bit error rate due to random noise, audio frequency characteristics, harmonic distortion, dynamic range of sound channel, crosstalk, signal-to-noise ratio, mode identification. The standard does not specify performance requirements. The decoder unit is usually integrated into a DBS tuner. The methods of measurement for the tuner are described in Part 2.
