Establishes specifications for the automatic protection switching of optical facilities using the optical interface standard specified in American National Standard for Telecommunications - Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) - Basic Description Including Multiplex Structures, Rates, and Formats, ANSI T1.105-1995. This standard defines the contents of the Automatic Protection Switching (APS) bytes within the SONET signal. This standard was first listed for public review in the October 10, 1997 issue of Standards Action. It is being resubmitted due to substantive changes to the text.
