The standard describes the design of smoke vents in single-storey industrial buildings and in the uppermost storey of multi-storey industrial buildings with vertical smoke discharge through thermal updraught of the fire gases directly above the source of the fire. Requirements for the smoke vents and rules for their installation are given. Acceptance testing and the maintenance of smoke vents are also laid down.
