Applicable to the measurement of electric field strength at power frequencies in air for quasi-uniform electric fields with instrumentation in common use and/or commercially available. Applicable to other instruments provided they are calibrated according to the procedures described in this standard. Defines the terms used and describes the basic operating principles of measuring instruments and methods for calibration and calibration checks. Specifies electric field strength measurement procedures, identifies significant sources of measurement error and gives limits of permissible uncertainties.
