Covers enclosed industrial control equipment and associated components intended for starting, stopping, regulating, controlling, or protecting electric motors or other electrical loads, including refrigeration equipment. This equipment has AC voltage ratings in the range of 2.2-2.5 or 4.0-4.5 kilovolts, and is intended for use in ordinary locations in accordance with ANSI/NFPA 70-1981, National Electrical Code. The requirements in this standard, as modified by ANSI/NFPA 20-1980, Centrifugal Fire Pumps, also cover fire pump controllers. This standard does not cover electronic or static devices, circuits, or systems. Nor does it cover the internal construction of electrical instruments such as meters.
