This standard specifies a method for determining the actual linear density of textile glass continous filament yarns, staple fibre yarns, textured yarns and rovings in the form of packages. It may be used for the inspection of a package or a batch or consignment of several packages. The mass per unit length shall be determined after desizing of test specimens of known length by calcination to constant mass at a standard temperature of 625 +- 20 °C. The linear density as determined is the mean actual linear density, expressed in tex, of the desized, oven dried textile product.
