Applies to new and unused sulphur hexafluoride as supplied by the chemical manufacturer and before introduction into any electrical equipment. This standard deals with the properties and methods of test applicable to sulphur hexafluoride in following sections: General properties, nature and limiting quantity of impurities, containers for sulphur hexafluoride, conduct of tests, sampling technique, identification of gas by infrared spectroscopy, toxicity, water content, carbon tetrafluoride and oxygen content by gas chromatographic determination, hydrolysable fluorides, acidity.
