This report presents a short survey of measures to safeguard the patient and the operator from the dangers connected with the use of electrical equipment. The hazards discussed include electrical, mechanical, explosion, fire and those caused by radiation, noise, temperature and environment. They can be introduced by the energy delivered in cases of proper and fault conditions or the absence of functioning and they can be imposed upon the patient, operator of the equipment, surrounding personnel and the equipment or installation.
