The method consists in surface plating, on a solid selective culture medium contained in Petri dishes, of a specified test sample, further preparing of other plates, under the same conditions, using decimal dilutions of the test sample. Then aerobic incubation of the plates at 30 °C for 18 to 48 h, followed by calculation of the number of micro-organisms per gram or per millilitre from the number of confirmed colonies obtained on plates at suitable dilution levels.
