Supersedes the first edition of IEC Publication 287 issued in 1969. Consolidates the previous amendments and the supplement into one document. Incorporates further more accurate formulae and introduces SI units into the publication. Deals solely with the condition of steady-state operation of cables at all alternating voltages and direct voltages up to 5 kV, buried directly in the ground, in ducts, troughs or in steel pipes, as well as cables in air.The formulae given are essentially literal and designed leave open the selection of certain important parameters.
