Specifies three methods: two versions of the copper spiral method, and the sodium sulphite method. The copper spiral methods are also applicable, subject to certain limitations, to unvulcanized compounds. Vulcanizates containing higher proportions of free sulphur than the rubber can dissolve are liable to bloom sulphur, hence certain product specification include a maximum figure for free sulphur.
