A weighed container of known volume is filled wiht coke in such a way as substantially to prevent breage. The upper surface of the coke is levelled in the crease in amss is determined. The determination is carried out in a cubical container of 2 hl capacity. It is applicable to coke up to 1,50 mm (round aperture) nominal upper size. The nominal upper size is that at which not more than 5 % of the coke is oversize.
