Sets out specifications relating to the conditioning and testing of all plastics and all types of test specimen under approximately normal ambient atmospheric conditions. Special atmospheres are not included in this standard. Two corresponding atmospheres are defined: The "recommended atmosphere 23/50" and "atmosphere 27/65" for tropical countries, which are specified as follows: Atmosphere 23/50: temperature 23 °C, 50 % relative humidity; Atmosphere 27/65: temperature 27 °C, 65 % relative humidity. The atmospheric pressure is in both cases 86 to 106 kPa.
