The standard describes a chemical method for the determination of the oxygen depletion in a water sample. In closed bottles or in a respirometer the oxygen concentration of the water is to determine by the method of DIN 38408 part 21 or DIN 38408 part 22. By a numeric analysis follows the oxygen depletion in n days.
