This Particular Standard refers to and is to be read in conjunction with the General Standard IEC 601-1, Part 1. The requirements for electrical safety, robustness and disinfectability apply to dosimeters with any type of electrically-connected radiation detectors intended for use in physical but not electrical contact with a patient. Dose monitoring systems incorporated in radiotherapy equipment are not covered by this edition. Appendix AA contains the rationale.
