Establishes a system of classification of sealed radioactive sources based on performance specifications related to radiation safety. It provides manufacturers of sealed sources with a series of tests for evaluating the safety of products under specified conditions, and also assists a user of such sources to select a type that suits the intended application insofar as maintenance of source integrity is concerned. Tests are prescribed for temperature, external pressure, impact, vibration, and puncture over a range of severity.
