Applies to circuit-breakers less than 1000 V a.c. or 1500 V d.c. including fused circuit-breakers, especially to their method of construction. It deals with characteristics and behaviour with respect to overload and short-circuit, dielectric properties, and tests. Excluded are circuit-breakers used as starters, as protectors of building installations, for electrical appliances, for earth-leakage protection purposes, and for traction, marine service, and other specific applications.
