Specifies the general requirements, covering classification and designation, appearance, dimensions and dimensional tolerances, minimum storage life, packing and marking. A pressure sensitive adhesive tape shall be classified by the form and nature of backing (base) material, the temperature index of backing material, the minimum application temperature and the nature of adhesive. The code designations of backing (base) materials are given in a table.
