Specimens of the textile (textiles of all kinds except loose fibres) are exposed to light from a xenon arc lamp and to water spray under specified conditions. At the same time, eight dyed wool references are exposed to light but protected from water spray by a sheet of window-glass. The fastness is assessed by comparing the change in colour of the specimen with that of the references. General information on colour fastness to light is given in the annex.
