Specifies a method for the determination of yields of tar, water, gas, and coke residue from coal by low temperature distillation (up to a temperature of 520 C over a period of 80 minutes). The yield of the distillation products, especially that of tar, may form the basis for the classification of coal for use in low temperature carbonization.
