Specifies three methods of test for flammability or self extinguishing properties of solid electrical insulating materials under following conditions: Method BH: Incandescent bar at 955°C, horizontally fixed specimen; Method FH: Gas flame, horizontally fixed specimen; Method FV: Gas flame, vertically fixed specimen. The horizontal position (methods BH and FH) is particularty suitable for evaluating the velocity of flame propagation (burning rate) and the vertical position r eines Gleichs a more severe test for self extinguishing properties. The behviour of the specimens shall be classified in defined burning categories.
