Gives test procedures for the thermal evaluation and classification of insulation systems used or proposed for use in wire-wound a.c. or d.c. rotating electrical machines. The test procedures are comparative in that the performance of a candidate insulation system is compared to that of a reference insulation system with proven service experience. Shall be used in conjunction with IEC 60034-18-1 (published in South Africa as an identical adoption under the designation SANS 60034-18-1).
