The purpose is to specify the measurement methods (for electrical, mechanical and other parameters) and the minimum requirements applicable to DAT tapes: technical requirements and test conditions including calibration and reference tapes, electrical parameters to be measured (RF optimum recording current, RF output level, RF frequency response, overwrite characteristics, carrier-to-noise ratio), mechanical and other parameters to be tested (tape width, tape width fluctuation, total tape thickness, yield force, residual elongation, light transmittance, electrical resistance of magnetic coating).
