This part of the standard is applicable to floating leisure articles for use on or in water having a minimum length of 1,20 m and as set out in clause 4. It specifies those general material properties and requirements and test methods which are common to all product groups (Classes A to E) as they are dealt with in the specific vertical standards Part 3 to Part 7. This standard is not applicable to aquatic toys as dealt with in EN 71-1 (use in shallow waters only); is not applicable to inflatable boats with a buoyancy > 1800 N as dealt with in EN ISO 6185-1 to EN ISO 6185-3; is not applicable to buoyant aids for swimming instructions as dealt with in EN 13138-1 to EN 13138-3.
