This standard is based on IEC Publication 601-1 but the requirements of this standard take precedence over those of the IEC Publication. It specifies safety requirements for the concentrators defined but does not apply to units intended to supply gas to several patients or to those intended for use in the presence of flammable anaesthetic and/or cleaning agents. The scope is restricted to membrane oxygen concentrators and pressure swing adsorbers. Definitions of terms are included.
